Today, a few words about the USBX53 M10 3-Inch Tank Destroyer Platoon set. The set did not interest me because I suddenly realised that I wanted to collect the US Army for the period of MW in North Africa, no. The point is that in the box we have exactly the same moldings as in the UBX49 Tank Destroyer Platoon set and this set was out of stock in Poland.:-(
Obydwa zestawy są następcami zestawów żywiczno-metalowych UBX31 (pluton M10) i UBX30 (pluton M36). I w tym właśnie tkwi clou sprawy - jednym zestawie za ok. 110 zł dostajemy to co mieliśmy kupując zestaw M10 i M36 w cenie ok. 250 do 300 zł.
Both sets are successors of the UBX31 resin-and-metal sets (M10 platoon) and UBX30 (M36 platoon). And this is the clou thing - one set for about 110 PLN we get what we had buying the M10 and M36 sets for about 250 to 300 PLN.
Co dostaniemy w zestawie?
W estetycznym pudełku zawierającym od frontu ładną grafikę plutonu M10 Wolverine a z tyłu instrukcję montażu tego pojazdu znajdziemy:
wypraski dla czterech pojazdów M10 lub M36 - 4 kadłuby, 4 wieże do M10/M10c i 4 wieże do M36 (nigdzie na pudełku tej informacji nie ma);
wypraski zawierające korpusy (od pasa lub od klatki piersiowej) pięciu członków załogi dla czterech pojazdów;
zestaw naklejek dla 5-6 pojazdów :-);
kartę oddziału M10 na MW (Middle War).
Zawartość pudełka przedstawiono na poniższych fotografiach.
What will we get in the set?
In the aesthetic box with nice graphics of the M10 Wolverine platoon from the front and the assembly instructions on the back we can find:
• moldings for four M10 or M36 vehicles - 4 hulls, 4 turrets for M10 / M10c and 4 turrets for M36 (nowhere on the box there is this information);
• moldings containing bodies (from belt or chest) of five crew members for four vehicles;
• decals set for 5-6 vehicles :-);
• M10 unit card for MW (Middle War).
The contents of the box are shown in the following photographs.
Jakość zestawu
Ja jestem zachwycony ostatnio klejonymi przeze mnie pojazdami z BF - brak jakichkolwiek nadlewek, idealne dopasowanie, proporcje zachowane - poprawności skali nie sprawdzałem.
Podsumowując, w porównaniu do żywicy produkt jest superaśny. :-)
Abstrahując od tego, że wolę zestawy żywiczno-metalowe ze względu na jej trwałość i wagę - lubię czuć model w ręku. Oczywiście, z problemem wagi poradziłem sobie wklejając metalowe nakrętki do kadłuba pojazdu.
The quality of the set
I am delighted with the BF vehicles I have recently glued - the lack of any traps, perfect fit, proportions preserved - I have not checked the correctness of the scale.
In summary, the product is much better than the resin one. :-)
Apart from the fact that I prefer resin and metal sets because of its durability and weight - I like to feel the model in my hand. Of course, with the weight problem I managed to paste the metal nuts to the hull of the vehicle.
Wykonanie pojazdów
Pojazdy skleiłem zgodnie z instrukcją na pudełku oraz informacjami zamieszczonymi na stronie producenta. Dodatkowo do upiększenia swoich modeli użyłem oferowanego przez Marcina Szmyta zestawu tobołków zawierającego koce, skrzynki, zrolowane siatki maskujące. Zestaw wykonany jest z miękkiej żywicy, łatwej do obróbki i skalpelem jak i pilnikiem - nie kruszy się.
Mounting vehicles
The vehicles were glued in accordance with the instructions on the box and information posted on the manufacturer's website. In addition to the beautification of my models, I used a set of bundles offered by Marcin Szmyt containing blankets, boxes, roll up camouflage nets. The set is made of a soft resin, easy to work with a scalpel and a file - it does not crumble.
Po zmontowaniu pojazdy wyglądały tak jak na poniższych zdjęciach.
After assembling, the vehicles looked like the pictures below show.
Prace malarskie przebiegały tak jak zwykle do momentu nałożenia washa - tu nastąpił zonk. :-(
Po wyschnięciu, tam gdzie powinno być ciemniej porobiły się jasnoszare plamy. Zaskoczenie było tym większe, że użyłem washa już sprawdzonego firmy Citadel, z tym że tym razem rozcieńczyłem go nieco wodą. Ostatecznie poradziłem sobie z nimi, ale strachu się trochę najadłem. Dalsze prace malarskie - rozjaśnianie i brudzenie modelu techniką suchego pędzla zamaskowały ten efekt.
The paintings were done as usual until the wash was applied - there was a zonk. :-(
After drying, there were light grey stains in places where it should have been darker. The surprise was because I used this wash (by Citadel) several times before, but this time I diluted it with water a bit. Finally, I dealt with them, but I was a little scared. Further painting works - brightening and staining the model with the dry brush technique masked this effect.
Kolejnym etapem było nałożenie naklejek - białych, dużych gwiazd bez obwódek jest trochę za mało. Szczęśliwie taki sam zestaw naklejek znajduje się w zestawie plutonu zmechanizowanego a przez zupełny przypadek ;-), sklejałem go równolegle.
Efekt końcowy możemy obejrzeć na poniższych zdjęciach.
The next step was the imposition of decals. Unfortunately, there are too few white, large stars without borders. Luckily, the same set of stickers is in the mechanized platoon set and by a complete coincidence ;-), I glued it in parallel.
The final effect can be seen in the pictures below.

Obydwa zestawy są następcami zestawów żywiczno-metalowych UBX31 (pluton M10) i UBX30 (pluton M36). I w tym właśnie tkwi clou sprawy - jednym zestawie za ok. 110 zł dostajemy to co mieliśmy kupując zestaw M10 i M36 w cenie ok. 250 do 300 zł.

Biorąc pod uwagę cenę i jakość zestawu, mamy bardzo wartościowy produkt. Z jednego zestawu możemy mieć 4 pojazdy M10 Wolverine albo M10c Achilles z dodatkowymi wieżami dla M36 Jackson.
To czego mi brakuje, albo z czym nie mogę się pogodzić, co oczywiście jest w sprzeczności z interesem producenta, to to, że ten zestaw byłby jeszcze bardziej wartościowy, gdyby zawierała także karty oddziałów dla M10 na okres LW, M10c i M36., tak aby był komplet. Można by także do niego dorzucić figurki załóg brytyjskich.
Nie mniej jednak serdecznie polecam. :-)

Considering the price and quality of the set, we have a very valuable product. From one set we can have 4 M10 Wolverine or M10c Achilles vehicles with additional turrets for M36 Jackson.
What I miss, or what I can not accept, what of course is against the manufacturer's interest, this set would be even more valuable if it also contained M10 unit cards for LW, M10c and M36. to make it complete. The manufacturer could have also add figures of British crews to it.
Nevertheless, I heartily recommend it. :-)
To czego mi brakuje, albo z czym nie mogę się pogodzić, co oczywiście jest w sprzeczności z interesem producenta, to to, że ten zestaw byłby jeszcze bardziej wartościowy, gdyby zawierała także karty oddziałów dla M10 na okres LW, M10c i M36., tak aby był komplet. Można by także do niego dorzucić figurki załóg brytyjskich.
Nie mniej jednak serdecznie polecam. :-)
